6. The Submerged Sunken Basilica of Prismarine

Introduction

A vast, drowned ocean world where ancient, towering gothic cathedrals sit fully submerged in deep turquoise waters, illuminated by glowing sea lanterns and flickering water-logged soul fire.

What This Idea Means

This design takes grand gothic architecture and submerges it in an aquatic abyss. It blends underwater survival challenges with the haunting beauty of flooded cathedral aisles, arched cloisters, and coral-encrusted altars.

Needs to Make That Thing

  • Palette: Dark Prismarine, Prismarine Bricks, Mossy Stone Bricks, Sea Lanterns, Cyan Stained Glass.
  • Aquatic Decor: Coral Blocks, Sea Pickles, Seagrass, Waterlogged Soul Lanterns.

How to Make It

  1. Generate or locate a deep ocean biome and lay out massive cathedral foundations on the ocean floor.
  2. Build soaring pointed arches, nave aisles, and high vaulted ceilings using Dark Prismarine and Prismarine Bricks.
  3. Replace traditional windows with Cyan Stained Glass Panes looking out into dark blue ocean water.
  4. Detail exterior walls with thick layers of Tube Coral, Sea Pickles, and aquatic vines.
  5. Create dry, air-filled survival pockets inside vaulted upper transepts using sponges and heavy iron doors.

Tips & Variations

  • Aquatic Conduits: Place fully activated Conduits in the cathedral altar space to give players infinite underwater breath and vision while exploring.
  • Submerged Lighting: Hide Sea Lanterns behind Prismarine Wall grates to project diffuse teal light down drowned cathedral aisles.
