17. Hanging Cage of Skeletons
Create a dramatic, dungeon-like atmosphere on your front porch or in your entryway with a hanging cage filled with restless skeletons. This large-scale decoration looks heavy and medieval, but it is actually made from lightweight, budget-friendly materials. It adds a wonderful sense of vertical height to your decor, making your home feel like a sprawling, medieval castle or a pirate’s cove of doom.
To build the cage, purchase two round plastic laundry baskets from a dollar store. Cut out the vertical plastic bars of one basket to create wider gaps, and paint both baskets with metallic silver and black spray paint to look like rusted iron. Join the two baskets rim-to-rim using zip ties to form a large capsule. Place a poseable plastic skeleton inside, reaching out through the bars, and hang the cage from a thick, rustic plastic chain suspended from your ceiling.
