16. Haunted Mirror with a Hidden Ghostly Apparition
Give your bathroom or hallway mirror a terrifying twist with a hidden ghostly apparition. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary, elegant vintage mirror. But as guests approach to check their reflection, they will catch a glimpse of a faint, pale spirit staring back at them from behind the glass. It is a brilliant, subtle scare that relies on lighting and angles to create a memorable, theatrical experience.
To create this illusion, print a pale, desaturated image of a ghostly figure on regular printer paper. Take an inexpensive wall mirror, scrape away a small section of the reflective backing on the reverse side using steel wool, and tape the ghostly image directly behind the cleared glass. When the mirror is hung in a dimly lit room, the ghost will appear to be trapped inside the glass, visible only when the light catches it from the side.
